Fiji Wanderer

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures while living in Fiji.

Paradise Cove Resort - Yasawa Islands

Paradise Cove Resort - Yasawa Islands

You know how tourism brochures and websites always show you these tropical paradise scenes of luxe resorts out in the middle of the ocean? Well we got to see the real life version of that when we stayed at Paradise Cove Resort.

There are so many islands and resorts to choose from in Fiji, it can be a bit overwhelming.  We went with the good old "a friend recommended it" approach and it was the best idea ever. There was a group of us with birthdays close together so we decided to have a weekend away and celebrate in tropical island paradise style.

Paradise Cove Resort is one of the first islands in the Yasawa Island group, about 3 hours by boat from Nadi or about 20 minutes by sea plane. As it was my birthday, and when it's your birthday you can justify anything, we decided to arrive in style via the Turtle Airways Seaplane and it was the funnest transportation method I've ever taken as you can probably tell from my face in the picture below...

Fiji travel at its best in a seaplane

The resort

Paradise Cove Resort is a tranquil, beautiful island resort where everything is almost too easy. The staff are so friendly, (shout out to Mili who made our stay so wonderful) and they are willing to help you with anything you need.

The vibe

This resort is calm, beautiful, clean and easy. Not a party resort and not overrun by kids. I would say it's quite the luxury resort, but in no way over the top or sterile, just well laid out and you're never more than a few steps from the ocean. The set up is great with the cocktail bar positioned between the pool and the beach.

The accommodation

We stayed in the Deluxe Garden suite which was huge and perfect for two couples to stay in without feeling crowded. The main bed was in the open lounge area and the second bedroom was at the back. There was also a large outdoor lounging area and the best part, an outdoor shower room with two shower heads and beautiful plants and flowers surrounding you. There are also beach front rooms with their own hammocks out the front of your own private beach area and some rooms have their own plunge pool too. You can check out all the room types here

What to do there

Snorkel - We literally snorkelled straight out from the beach and it was beautiful. We saw all the little tropical fish you would hope to see and even spotted a little sting ray. You can also go on boat tours to other snorkelling spots, just visit the activities desk.

Paddle boarding and kayaking - To be honest, we were too lazy, (busy drinking cocktails and celebrating birthdays) to paddle board or kayak, but the equipment is there and free to use whenever you like.

My favourite part

The sunset drinks with a view - The resort offers a sunset drinks session, up on top of the highest point of the island. Even though the sunset wasn't spectacular on our evening, the views out across the ocean were beautiful and it was the perfect pre dinner drink spot to soak up the tropical island atmosphere.

How to get there

There are two options to get out to the Yasawa Islands and that's either by ferry or sea plane. We went with Turtle Airways for the flight over, which was such an amazing experience as you can see all the islands and resorts as you fly over. We took the Awesome Adventures Fiji ferry for the trip back to the mainland.

We loved it here and would go back again simply for the ease and tranquillity of the place. There are so many island resorts to choose from so I hope this helps to paint a picture of the types of tropical island holidays Fiji has to offer.
